Later Firings

I've been slowly building up the temperature with successive firings. I got it up to 350° average wall temperature in about an hour today. Hoping to have it at pizza-making temperature by Friday!

I'm not an expert at making bread or building brick ovens; one doesn't have to be an expert at either to enjoy homemade, wood-fired pizza in your own backyard. I've nearly finished my first permanent oven, and helped construct two temporary ovens. There is virtually no mistake that an oven builder can make, that can't be corrected later -- except not starting!

The archive for this blog has been set to display from oldest to newest -- reading entries that way will put them in chronological order.

The "Days" titles for entries refer to actual working days. There were quite a few days when I was waiting for things to cure, or planning my next steps, or gathering materials.
